Day 11
Fortunately, I do not think I have this problem yet. However, tumors have formed in sensitive areas like the fingernail area which make them even more sensitive. Even the slightest contact or hit has the potential to cause a lot of pain.

Day 12:
I was fortunate to have my NF1 discovered and diagnosed when was four (4) and I became aware early. Of course, I may not have fully understood at the time, but eventually it helped me to easily accept my condition as I grew older.

Day 14:
When I was younger, the “café au lait”
spots were quite obvious and visible. As I grew older though, they have since faded. However, the neurofibromas continue to grow and increase in number particularly on my torso and arms. Some new ones have also appeared on my face.

Day 15:
I have not experienced any challenges growing up and I have also met a good number of people with NF1 but I don’t recall any of them mentioning challenges. Perhaps learning challenges here may not be referring to mental ability but rather physical disability that could hinder learning. Any NF1 friends of mine, please feel free to comment.

Unfortunately, some people who are not familiar with NF see the multiple bumps on the skin and they tend to pull away. I’m glad though that such experiences are not common for me; maybe I am just fortunate or I don’t notice.

I am hoping that one day, there will be a cure for NF.

Personal note:
When I was first diagnosed, along with the years following, my family tried to trace down our ancestry to try and learn where I got the gene. We found nothing.

It was only much later that I discovered that my case was likely a mutation and that I am the first to have it.

In short, I am a mutant. I’m still waiting for my mutant powers though. 😂 Sorry, I couldn’t resist slipping that in.

The first things I did when I got in my room:

1. Get the WiFi access.
2. Set up VPNs
3. Connect one device to the TV
4. Login to Crunchyroll to watch Dragonball because I missed watching most episodes when they showed it in local channels (9 and 13 was it?) way back when… 😂

I also played around with the light switches, the safe, inspected all drawers, the toiletries, etc.
